Meet Hashima — Hired through Nurture Hub Edmonton
Before: Hashima arrived in Canada with a degree in microbiology and 7 years of experience but couldn't secure work because she had “no Canadian experience.” She was working two survival jobs and still couldn’t support her family.
After Nurture: Hashima trained in food production, digital tools, and customer service at the GROW Space. Within 8 weeks, she moved into paid employment through Nurture Meals — packaging, labeling, and managing online orders.
Today: She is now employed full-time with one of our corporate partners and mentors other newcomer women entering the program.
Meet Abigail — From Invisible to Independent
Before: Abigail, a newcomer from Colombia, submitted 122 job applications with no interview callbacks. She described feeling “invisible.”
After Nurture: She joined the Nurture Empowerment Initiative™ as a trainee in hospitality and retail operations. She helped package the Cashew and Mediterranean Lentil Soup Mix that now sells at Nurture Meals.
Today: Abigail is the lead for the Nurture Café back-of-house team and is saving for her first apartment.
